RC Laptime Optimizer is a driving practice simulator focused on one specific skill: learning how to find, repeat, and improve the correct racing line with radio-controlled cars.

The goal is not to be an arcade racer, and it is not trying to replace real track time. Instead, the idea is to create a useful training tool where drivers can practise corner entry, apex timing, throttle control, braking points, and consistency in a controlled digital environment.

Core Idea

RC cars are small, fast, nervous, and demanding. On a real track, the difference between a good lap and a messy one often comes down to how well the driver can read the track and place the car on the correct line.

RC Laptime Optimizer is built around that idea.

The game simulates different types of RC cars in a relatively realistic way, with handling that is meant to feel believable rather than exaggerated. Each car type should have its own character, but the focus is always on learning how to drive cleanly, consistently, and efficiently.

Practice the Racing Line

The main purpose of the simulator is to help the player practise finding the right raceline.

Instead of simply driving around the track as fast as possible, the player is encouraged to study:

  • where to enter a corner
  • when to turn in
  • how close to get to the apex
  • when to start accelerating
  • how to carry speed through a section
  • how to avoid unnecessary steering corrections
  • how to repeat a good lap consistently

The game can show current and previous driving lines, making it easier to compare attempts and understand where time is gained or lost.

Different RC Car Types

RC Laptime Optimizer is designed to support several different kinds of RC cars, such as touring cars, rally cars, and other small-scale racing vehicles.

Each type of car may behave differently depending on its drivetrain, grip level, speed, and handling style. The point is not to create a complicated garage simulator, but to give each vehicle class a useful and believable driving feel.

The simulator is especially useful for practising:

  • smooth steering
  • throttle discipline
  • braking before corners
  • keeping momentum
  • avoiding overdriving
  • learning track layouts
  • improving lap consistency

Not Just a Game

RC Laptime Optimizer is both a game and a practice tool.

It is made for RC drivers who want to improve their real-world driving by spending more time thinking about lines, rhythm, and car placement. It can also be used by beginners who want to understand basic racing concepts before stepping onto a real RC track.

The simulator is still in development, but the long-term goal is to make it a simple, focused and useful tool for anyone who wants to become a cleaner and faster RC driver.

Current Focus

The current version focuses on:

  • practising racelines
  • improving lap consistency
  • comparing current and previous lines
  • learning track flow
  • building a believable RC driving feel

Future versions may expand with more cars, more tracks, improved physics, online comparisons, and additional training tools.

In Short

RC Laptime Optimizer is about one thing:

Helping RC drivers find better lines, drive cleaner laps, and understand why one lap is faster than another.
